Music Monday

"I'm the leader of the show,
                                    keepin' you on the go

       Anything But Regula

Humble.. Raw.. Prepared!! Just a few words to describe the Bronx phenomenon Dan Barz. The Harlem born MC created quite a stir; with releases of his independent projects. " Finally Here" and " 2 Roads 1 Destination" with fellow floetcist Gat Tony. Yet despite his accomplishments, he remains down to earth. Centered by those who've come before him; taking in their wisdom and pressing forward to hold his own and build on . Never discouraged in loosing a battle, because he's been trained for war. Barz is not to be underestimated; his catchy word play. Coincides with the way he bounces on a track. Diverse enough to appeal to all who listen; a storyteller of everyday struggles. Labeled a Underdog by the feeble minded but; respected by his peers and those who can see... HE'S PAST REGULA

1CL: Who Is Dan Barz?
DB: A young hungry artist. Witty with the word play punchlines. conceited on tracks but humbled as a person and a dedicated father and family man.
1CL: What is Hip Hop to you?
DB: A lifestyle. everything I represent. Something I love to do
1CL: Who are some of your influences?
DB: Big, Mobb Deep, Ice Cube, & LL Cool J. Mostly old rappers I'm not really into the new stuff even tho it's hot. I'm just into my old stuff.
1CL: If there was anyone you could sit and exchange ideas with anyone, who would it be and why?
DB. At this moment any artist that's set in the game. That's been in the game for a substantial amount of time and can give me the right words of wisdom.
1CL: How would you describe your flow?
DB:Incredible, versatile and captivating to the listener. It's all in the voice lol
1CL: Do you feel Hip Hop is dead; if so what can you do to revive it?
DB: Na it's not dead it's just more free at this point. I just wanna add my 2 cents lol to keep it living lol
1CL: What has been your most humbling experience as a artist?
DB:When I as a better rapper got out shined by a lesser opponent. no disrespect to him but I was just not on my A game that day.
1CL: What would you like to tell our readers/ your future fans?
DB: Stay tuned to what I have to bring to the table. If u like rappers that actually have something to say I'm your man.
1CL: What's your next project?
DB: I have a couple I'm working on now. A team project with my squad "Dot Mob" and my own solo project along with a couple features
1CL: Where ca people go to find out more about you and your music?
DB:Just hit me on Facebook(Dan Barz) or twitter(20Gang_Barz) and talk to me directly. I'm a pretty open person and I keep it Regula! that's my slogan lol #Regula! Thanks for the interview.

That's Hot Thursday

If a woman is sufficiently ambitious, determined and gifted - there is practically nothing she can't do- Helen Lawrenson

Say it with us- WOMEN RUN THE WORLD!! Nice ring to it right?! Now don’t get 1stClassLadies wrong- we LOVE our men but we have come far from where we once stood and how "relevent" we once were. As time has changed , so has the value of a woman and it is about time that we get the respect and acknowledgement we rightfully deserve. Not just for our physical assets or how well our technique is in the kitchen. Not just for how excellent a mother we are or how dedicated a wife we can be but how well we can survive in the actual world and provide our OWN needs and/or desires. Making a name for ourselves, standing on our own two feet and acquiring each day to the fullest is our goal and a job well done we must say. From the white house downward we are taking charge- even down to 1stClassLadies! However there is another woman out there making a change, taking charge, embracing womanhood and loving every minute of it. Her name you ask? Just call her Ms. Vixen.

Who is Ms. Vixen? The definition of the word is simple: a woman who is a fox, mainly a bombshell. In her own way she handles Business, making a living for herself and/or her offspring’s that requires no handouts. She works hard for what she wants and believes nothing is out of her reach. “I consider myself a Neo feminist, meaning I believe in the power and greatness of all women, and I want to showcase that.” And don’t we all?!?!?  She doesn’t want to knock males- that’s not her style. She simply loves her sexuality and though we as men and women are considered as equals we are still different and Ms. Vixen as no problem communicating that through her work.
So what’s Ms. Vixen all about? It’s an online magazine created for women by a woman!! We as females know what we care for and what we require so of course we should be the ones providing it to one another and that is what Ms. Vixen  intends to promote and encourage. We know what some of you may be thinking. “There is Ebony already and of course Essence. What’s so special about Ms. Vixen?” As great as those magazines are they are for an older crowd of woman (No disrespect intended to our mentors.) Ms. Vixen however, is targeted for a younger more modern stage of woman. Not to say that this magazine is at all naïve but, as young woman we want to obtain information of any sort from a fixation we can relate to.  From fashion to updated news, Ms.Vixen's got you covered! Need advice in the relationship area? want to keep up on ya music??
Have no fear- Ms.Vixen is here! She got your back keeping every woman well informed and up to speed.

Where is Ms. Vixen trying to go with it? TO THE MOON IN BACK! She would like to expand Ms Vixen into other media outlets, Print Magazine, Ms Vixen TV and Ms Vixen Radio. 1stClassLadies loves the sound of that (if we get a feature!!) Support Ms.vixen and her movement by visiting the her site  Ms.vixen Mag!

WANTED WEDNESDAY

"I  have a switch in my apartment that doesn't do anything.  Every once in a while I turn it on and off.  On and off.  On and off.  One day I got a call from a woman in France who said "Cut it out!"
                                                                                                        -Stephen Wright

Apartment Hunter's Beware

This is what happens when you don't pick the right apartment.  Picking out the apartment thats just right for you  and/or you and your family isn't an over night task.  In fact one must consider many different factors before even going out and viewing.  Starting with the most important factor, your finances and how much you and/or your family can afford.  Factors to follow are neighborhoods of interest, specific space accommodations, traveling accommodations, etc.  No worries because we are here to list all of what you need for your apartment hunt!

Establish a list of what you want in an apartment.  Start with the particular area/areas you would like to reside in.  Make sure to list the specifics but easy to forget ie; if owning a vehicle you wanna check for parking options.  Nearby stores and shops.  Nearest train stations and bus stops, etc.  This will help focus your search and thus eliminating what doesn't fit your criteria.

Establish your rental budget.  It is just as important as listing what you want in an apartment. You will need to balance your apartment living wants and needs with what you can afford. It is critical that you have a good idea of your budget before you rent an apartment.

CALCULATE HOW MUCH YOU CAN AFFORD FOR RENT

Search for apartment availability. You can do this through personal references if accessible.  Review different materials such as newspapers ie; Daily News, NY AM, Metro, etc.  These newspapers always have classified sections filled with apartments that are currently for grabs.  Stop by your nearest Real Estate Office.  Though  Also visit credible websites that advertise apartments for rent.  The advantage of this option above all else is that normally most of the information for the apartment is listed and pics are available.

Prepare a list of questions to go with your preference list.  This will be help you to answer specific question you might have in reference to the apartment but also will help to feel out the landlord thus deciding if this is someone you're comfortable renting from.

Credit Check.  Every where you go to rent, lease, own (even if it's just a shoe lace)credit check is ALWAYS involved.  Cant even get satellite TV nowadays without good credit. We know it's sad but it's the economic times we live in.  With this said be ahead of the game, check your credit before hand.  If there are some loose ends now is the time to tie them.

Tasteful Tuesday

All four elements were happening in equal measure - the cuisine, the wine, the service, and the overall ambience. It taught me that dining could happen at a spiritual level- Charlie Trotter

A Taste Of Urban In Brooklyn

One evening the Ladies decided to go out to eat. We wanted something nice comfy but also somewhere we could take our kids to as well. My friend turns to me and says "Lets do Peaches! Its kid friendly and close to home." I had never been to Peaches but thought "hey what the hell." When we arrived I was surprised to see how many people were waiting. It was so many people that I couldn't even see the dining area. I thought to myself
all this waiting better be worth it- And it sure was!
When we finally were seated, I was amazed by the vey urban decor. The low lighting and candles everywhere gave it such a calm vibe even the kids were relaxed. Though this Bedstuy booming spot is not large, its definitely cozy. The light brown wooden seats are well arranged not sitting anyone to close or too far apart. There were couples, families, guys at the bar, and of course us girls and the kiddies- all different types of groups enjoying a Friday night filled with good food and great company.
Our waitress was so attentive! Not only did she take our order and even tell us a little about her favorites but she was also very in tone with the kids. Children love to be heard and be made to feel like they are just as important as the adults sitting with them. Answering them and "taking their order" made them feel good and like big kids!
She didn't mind all the questions that we had. She answered them with no problem and a great demeanor.

the Kiddies while waiting For Food

When the food was served I was more then impressed! Anybody can make something look good but making it taste just as good is a different story. The Salmon was EXCRESCENT! Juicy and well seasoned just the way a 1stclassLady would like it with mash potatoes and garlic sautéed broccoli. The other Ladies, had turkey meatloaf which was so good I caught myself stealing bits when they weren't looking! For the kids, they had chicken breast strips with sweet potato fries. Each meal tasted as if the chef treated the plate like a white sheet of paper and the food was his at work.

When we were all finished we were not rushed to leave or hurried the bill. Instead she simple told us to just let her know when we wanted the bill and where she could be located. We chatted a bit gathered the kids, paid the bill and left. I had to give it to my friend. Peaches was the way to go for sure.
Be sure to visit Peaches on 393 Lewis Avenue Brooklyn NY 11233
