Scandalous Saturday

"People Can Be Cruel.. And They Will Be! People Can Hurt You.. Break Your Heart..And They Will!! But Only You Can Let Them Keep Hurting You"

                                                                                                    - Unknown

You've had a "Love Jones" for his/her body & skin tone from the day your eyes met. It may have been a ongoing off again on again love roller coaster; leaving you looking like a love sick puppy with out a place to call home. Or even a close friendship that you thought could blossom into so much more. All and all it may be time to hang those dreams up. My hopeless romantics out there; sometimes matters of the heart aren't as complex as we ourselves make them! Although truth can hurt deep; you know we say this out of pure reflection of heartbreaks and lessons learned. It's never fair to be strung along, with high hopes and greater expectations. However the truth is men and women alike are guilty of such matters of the heart. So we've decided to address that awkward topic of " He/She... Is Just Not That Into You"!!

One thing we've personally learned is to look at things for what they are, and not what we want it to be. So turn off that damn Elliot Yamin song (Wait For You), Stop Watching "The Notebook", and accept it!!

RECOGNIZING THE SIGNS:
- You have been together for a couple of mths and he/she has no title for you!!

- He/ She makes constant references to their EX

- He/ She comes around when it's convenient for them

- He/ She does not call or txt

-You don't have a draw; or if you do it contains one item to sleep in and nothing more!!

- You are picked up in the wee hours of the night and return home before sunrise

- You've never had a proper date ( NO MOVIES.. NO DINNER.. NOT EVEN A STROLL IN
THE PARK)

- He/She FB or other social network status is Single or It's Complicated

- He/She has never given a token of affection ( Card, Jewelry, Money)

6 STEPS TO REGAINING YOUR PRIDE:

  1. Stop being so available... Sometimes out of love, we make ourselves too available to the person we admire. This can lead to the person feeling they always will have you there, a clear indication that they do not value your time!
  2. Stop being his/ her doormat... There is no reason you should be cooking, picking up dry cleaning,  paying for car repairs ; or restocking their refrigerator. You are not in a relationship. Sometimes we allow ourselves to be used; however from where we stand it's done out of love. Yet you need to recognize the difference between the two, so your not taken advantage of.
  3.  Give credit where credit is due!! DO NOT.. DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES FOR HE/SHE's SHORT COMINGS (i.e They didn't show to a important event like your birthday party)
  4. Change your number and delete them from your contacts! Yes, sometimes it takes a step so drastic to push that person out of your life and out of your mind. But it will put you in a better place emotionally.
  5. Purge of anything that leads to a memory.. Anything you thought that was sincere may have actually been ; but you can never be too sure when looking through lovestruck eyes. No need to sleep in his T-shirt Ladies,  throw it out!! Guys her toothbrush or draw can be cleaned out.
  6. Remain UN-frazzled if you do bump heads!! Keep your confidence and poise, as the saying goes " Never let em' see ya sweat"... Yes, you love or loved them but, they failed to see that. You've always been a treasure and they treated you like trash. So don't buckle at the sight of them giving into past/ remaining emotions.

Thoughts For Thursday

Autism is not a puzzle, nor a disease. Autism is a challange [sic], but certainly not a devistating [sic] one.- Trisha Van Berkel
Its that time of year again- Not just time for warmer weather or school coming to a close. Not time for cruising with the top down or staying out a bit later because its lighter outside a bit longer. It's Autism Awareness month and 1stClassladies are big advocates when it comess to informing our supporters about life altering changes that can affect a persons life.

Autism is defined by the Autism Society as a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. There is no one particular cause for Autism and affects each person differently. It is usually considered that abnormalities in brain structure or function is the cause. In a lot of families, there appears to be a pattern of autism or related disabilities, which supports a genetic theory but there has yet to be an irregular genetic code to confirm it. The pervalence of Autism has unfortunatley risen to 1 in every 110 births in the United States and almost 1 in 70 boys; this according to the 2009 report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Though there is no outgrowing Autism if  detected early enough, children can make remaarkable inprovements. Here are the sign to look out for to know if your child or  someone you know may be Autistic:
  • Does not babble or coo by 12 months
  • Does not gesture (point, wave, grasp) by 12 months
  • Does not say single words by 16 months
  • Does not say two-word phrases on his or her own by 24 months
  • Has any loss of any language or social skill at any age
  • Lack of or a delay in speech
  • Repetitive use of language and/or motor gestures (e.i. hand-flapping, twirling objects)
  • Little to no eye contact
  • Lack of interest in relationships with others
  • Lack of spontaneous or make-believe play
  • Persistent fixation on parts of objects

Join the fight and raise awarenss for those with Autism by wearing the ribbion. The puzzle pattern is a reflection of the mystery as well as the complexity of the autism spectrum. The different colors and shapes represent the different types of people and families that live with the condition.

Donate. Give for the cause and it will help support, autism education, awareness, advocacy, research, and most most of all, allow those who are assisting families living with autism to continue doing so. Go to this link to make a donationYou can also donate by phone-1.800.328.8476 OR by mail Send your check to: Autism Society 4340 East West Hwy Suite 350 Bethesda, MD 20814

WANTED WEDNESDAYS

                         HEY.......YOU NEVER KNOW!!!!
                                                           -New York Lottery

Its at a majority of offices no matter the occupation or department or specifics.  No its not the annual Christmas party, no its not quite the grab bag but close.  Its your office lottery pool.  The majority of places to work actually have regular lottery pools.  This is where a member of a work place is in charge to collect a certain amount per person to play in a state official lottery game.  If any big win comes along the people involved split the winnings evenly.  However one has to wonder if participation in this non work related however during work hours activity is a "I must be in it" or "I'll pass"!!!  There are some pros and cons to weigh and 1STCLASSLADIES are here to break it down.

                                                                    THE GOOD
  1. STATISTICS; these show, like comparing to any others odds, that your chances are greater attempting as a group versus playing on your own.  Just think what are the chances that if you're playing with a group of four that two of you will get a hole-in-one on the exact same hole? At 17 million to 1, they're better than the chances of you winning the lottery.

                                                                     THE BAD

  1. GAMBLING; is defined as the wagering of money or something of material value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the primary intent of winning additional money and/or material goods.  This basically describes your "office pool" as gambling.  Some state/ city agencies, corporate, or private work places may have a policy against said pools.   Though being done as a group effort, it may come off to higher ups as a solicitation to gambling which could carry consequences such as termination.
  2. EXPENSES;  if you add up the amount of money you've contributed to a weekly office pool in hopes that you'll hit the jackpot, you ll probably have a quarter of that jackpot invested in the persons pocket who actually hit.  Just kidding, but you get the picture.  So for example if your giving 2$ a week for a year, that's a total of  $104.  One hundred and four dollars that could have gone to something else besides the fact that you didn't win.
  3. TRUST; as the person investing your money into the hopes of winning a trip to no financial burden ever again, you want to ensure yourself that the person handling the pool is responsible and trust worthy.  Think of all the things that could go wrong ie; a jackpot hit and the person handling the pool runs off with the winnings, minimum winnings and you see none of the funds, the pool runner pocketing the money, etc.
  4. SHARING IS CARING; so they say, however if winning you'd have to split your winnings versus all to yourself!

We found there to be more cons than pros however that one pro to some might be all they need to be convinced.  So its like NY Lottery says "You never know"!

MUSIC MONDAY

"Bozos love my rose gold,
                                        purple got me slow-mo.
Stuntin' like I'm Dorothy but my
                                                                                                              rubies in my dough though"
                                                                                        - A$AP Rocky

In the ever growing culture of hip hop, you have to take inspiration and build from it to grow. And the following two artist are doing just that. So you know 1stClassLadies had to keep you informed on what's.. what  and who is considered worthy of mentioning and inducting into the semi circle of soon to be musical evolutionist's of sound. Keep in mind this isn't your typical definition of emcee's these artist are branching off of what the greats inspired. But can the surpass greatness with a modern day hip hop sound?? Only time and the charts will tell!!

Many of you know A$AP Rocky from his recent successful single "Peso". Yet before the Harlem, N.Y natives single was leaked in August of 2011. Making him a  BBC sound for 2012 poll nominee; and eventually landing him on Drake's "Club Paradise Tour" he was just Rakim Mayers. Looking at this world of hip hop as a way out from his harsh reality. Now with a three million dollar record deal; plus the backing of Sony & RCA. The hunger for success is definitely in the air, with diligence he is currently pushing the limits of the expected Harlem sound. While paying homage to those who have inspired him such as The Diplomats,Bone Thugz n Harmony, UGK, and Mobb Deep to name a few . Rhyming over hard beats, with a laid back Cali influence. Leaving his fan base with anxious anticipation of his Album "LongLiveA$AP", hopefully to drop in May.

                                                           A$AP Rocky " Purple Swag"

If you haven't heard of Kendrick Lamar, then where have you been? The Californ-i-a native has worked with everyone from Snoop, Dre, The Game, Drake, Tech N9ne, and Wiz Khalifah just to name a few. But it takes more than that to be featured as one of XXL's freshman class 2011. Before being Kendrick Lamar his alias was K.Dot,  releasing his first mixtape in 2003, at the tender age of 16. "Youngest Nigga In Charge" was enough to get him the attention of Top Dawg Records. Then proceeding to put out a 26 track mixtape " Training Day " two years later; only gained him more notoriety. Blowing critics away with his " Overly Dedicated" mixtape. Featuring one of his popular singles "Ignorance Is Bliss" Glorifying the traditional West Coast gangsta rap genre; and cynically stating that living in such ignorance is blissful. Setting Lamar up for consideration of being signed to Aftermath Records, after working on Dr. Dre's "Detox" album. He then released his  much anticipated third solo project "Section 80" to high acclaim. Curretly he is newly signed to Interscope, Aftermath Entertainment due to a joint venture of Top Dawg Records. So his album "Good Kid Mad City" should be coming soon.
