WANTED WEDNESDAYS

“Why can't everyone be treated equally? Forgotten of what they did wrong, but remember their rights? Why can't the whole world just get along?”
-Fei loves Meng

Sunday May 20th will be the annual New York Aids Walk.  Did you know within the United States there is 1.1 million people living with the disease???????  With such a huge amount of people dealing with this disease we can only imagine what they go through day to day.  It is one thing to share your status with your loved ones and close friends.  You receive you support from these people you have in your life.  However should you keep this a secret from the work place??

The number one problem we see a person having when it comes to sharing their status with those outside of family and friends can be the judgement they receive in which no one deserves.  Certain companies have their own policies when it comes to illnesses or certain health issues where you must report them to your higher ups.  In this matter is there way of protecting themselves from a law suit say something happens to you while on the job and they arent aware of your condition.  Another reason for telling your status to your subordinates of the workplace is so if you have unexplained absences or know that you will have to take random time off they can understand as to why you need the necessary time.
Under no circumstance if having to inform the workplace should it be told to anyone else besides your subordinates or else that is considered breaking your privacy right act and laws.

And prepare to be blown away.

The signature's as well as faces of many Hollywood's elite grace The Palm in character form. The West Side location visited had the legendary god- father of soul James Brown, right where I was sitting. Our waiter was attentive and hospitable; never making us feel like a burden. He even had useful suggestions on selecting our cocktails ( Margarita & PomTini). The Lobster tail from Novas kosha was succulent; having just the proper amount of breadcrumbs on top. Sided  with a sizzling serving of mash potato with three cheeses . The salmon my husband devoured was flaky and slightly buttered. Combined with a filling amount of fries to compliment his plate.

After such indulgence you can't possibly forget about dessert or that after dinner espresso... The Palm offers all the goods, from there half pint of pistachio or vanilla gelato. To the many different variety of cakes ( flour-less chocolate cake, carrot cake, 7 layer dark chocolate, key lime pie, cheesecake) creme brulee , a warm bag of mini dough-nuts, and even gelatin!!!

THOUGHTS FOR THURSDAY

"A man's work is from sun to sun, but a mother's work is never done"

We've all grown up watching our favorite tv shows and we remember those women who've played as the mother.  Some reminding us of our own mom at home.  This Mother's Day we would like to reminisce on the most infamous TV MOM'S!!

Claire Huxtable.....who doesnt know of the Cosby Show.  Mrs Huxtable was played by Phylicia Rashad infamously married to Bill Cosby on the show.  Claire made a great imprint in TV history as a black woman who took care of her family as well as having her own career.  During this time era african american families weren't depicted in this light, making her one of the greatest tv moms to salute!

Temporary LayOffs...Good Times, Easy Credit RipOffs...Good Times, Scratchin and Surviving...Good Times,....the theme song said it all.  Esther Rolle played Florida Evans in the hit show "Good Times" We commend Florida for representing all the mothers struggling with their families to make ends meet and dealing with the social problems as well.  She raised three children living in a rented project apartment yet alwasy managed to show that even through tough times every thing will be alright.

"Did I do that" was the recurring saying and most memorable line of this sitcom.  Family Matters had Jo Marie Payton as Harriette Winslow the mother of the house for this sitcom.  She was the mom that you could talk to when in a bind but also sure to punish you if your in the wrong, all with a Happy Ending!

Everybody might hate Chris but every mother on this planet loves Tichina Arnold as Rochelle on "Everybody hates Chris"  She definitely without a doubt represents the mom who is absolutely head of household, makes sure dinner is ready, kids are in line, and husband pays bills on time!!!

"Apple Head" is just one of the many names Mama Payne used to identify daughter in law Gina Waters on the hit sitcom "Martin".  Mama Payne represented all the mothers who tell it like it is and had no shame!!!

Louise Jefferson played by Isabel Sanford didnt let moving on up to the eastside affect her as a mother.  Louise was the nurturing mother that represented us all.

Marge, who is voiced by Julie Kavner, is famously married to Homer Simpson.  Marge is your typical american housewife raising three children and with Bart as one of them, hats off to her!!

Sophia Petrillo played by Estelle Getty is most remembered for playing the mother of Dorothy Zbornak.  No one can forget Sophia's comical comments throughout the sitcom but when coming to lending an ear or a shoulder to cry on she was just the right mom to handle the job and make you laugh all at the same time.

Who Was Your Favorite TV Mom Growing Up??

WANTED WEDNESDAYS

“Price is what you pay.
Value is what you get.”
-Warren Buffett

Besides your every month expenses to keep a roof over your head and food on the table, some have to keep their car or cars  protected.  When picking the right insurance company it can be very difficult.  Each company serves the same purpose however offers various unique benefits.  For instance Liberty Mutual offers,  when in an accident that totals the vehicle, to replace the said vehicle with not only a newer vehicle but a newer model as well.  Nationwide offers the lowering of your deductibles as you remain a good driver.  While Progressive tells you, you can choose your own price!!

Well as the consumer there is so many questions and concerns when choosing the right company.  Who can give you the best quote?  Who has the best offers? etc.  We are here to clarify some myths that you may need reality checks on.

Myth: There’s not much you can do to lower your premium beyond the obvious, such as having a safe driving record and good credit.
Reality: There are other ways to reduce your premium. For example, you can have your vehicle identification number etched on your windshield and car windows. VIN etching makes it difficult for a thief to profit from stealing a car, and it also makes it difficult to dispose of the car after stealing it. Many police departments offer free VIN etching, or you can buy a VIN etching kit for about $25 and do it yourself. A number of insurance companies offer a discount or waive your deductibles if your car is VIN etched. To learn about other discounts, call your carrier and ask if there are any you’ve missed.

Myth: Red cars cost more to insure. Reality: There is no evidence that this is true, according to Loretta Worters, vice president of communications at the Insurance Information Institute. “The type of vehicle one drives will determine rates, including the make, model, engine, size, and year. Is it popular with thieves? Is it more costly to repair? Does it have a good safety record? That’s what insurers look at,” she says. Your best bet is to purchase a family car. Sports cars usually result in higher rates because those owners tend to drive faster. Family cars cost less to insure because they often attract drivers who are more careful. Family cars are also less expensive to repair (The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ranks cars by their post-accident repair bills). According to Insure.com, the average insurance premium on a 2012 sports car is $1,776 annually, compared with $1,317 on a 2012 family sedan. For more information on vehicle risk levels, visit the website for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Myth 3: Your insurance policy covers any damage to your car.
It doesn’t work that way. Liability Insurance (required in some state) covers you if you hurt someone or damage their property. Comprehensive and collision coverage protect your vehicle. That is why this is always optional coverage. Note: It may be required by the lender if you have a lease or car loan.
What’s covered?
1.    Comprehensive pays for damage to your vehicle (including broken glass) caused by something other than a collision with another vehicle or object. This would include losses caused by fire, theft, vandalism, severe weather, flooding and falling objects (such as a tree limb) or hitting an animal.
Collisioncoverage pays for damage to your vehicle caused from a collision with another vehicle or object. It also covers damage caused by potholes or if your vehicle flips over. Your insurance company will reimburse you for the cost of repairs (minus the deductible) even if you are at fault for the accident. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners points out that this is relatively expensive coverage, more costly than comprehensive.
