MUSIC MONDAY

A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty. ~Author Unknown

Father's Day Goodies

He is her first true love. He is his first real teacher. There is something undenyingly amazing about the bond between a man and his child. The love as well as lessons he is to bestow upon them will stick well past the age of maturity.  It is these tools that will help his son become a strong man and his daughter a graceful woman. Though with all lessons there will be mistakes and falls. That is where he steps in to be their catcher only sparing them with enough time to place them back on their feet and say "Get back out there." Well After he has given her away at her wedding and has watched his boy now become the man of his own household, his job is still not done. For as long as he is blessed to see another day, he will always be a FATHER.

There is so many more song dedicated all the great fathers out there. 1stclassladies would like you and your favorite man to enjoy all of them through out this week !

Scandalous Saturday

There is no model like a real ROLE MODEL- J.Davis

Are These Really Our New Role Models

Since we were young our elders have always told us to be leaders and follow those before us. To be more like the ones who have paved a way to make life better then yesterday. From doctors to lawyers, entrepreneurs and even athletes that make more of a difference in the world then they are known for. Both men and women of all colors and races have become what most of us would consider to be true role models. We have wrote history reports on them for their wisdom, talent, an humble attitude when we were in school and are forever grateful as they are proud of their accomplishments. However as time has changed so has our description of a role model. It seems we are now in a place where it is okay to bully, fight, and verbally abuse one another on National television for millions to see and yet grace covers of magazines, be the topic of every conversation, endorsed by the best of the best and simple be rewarded for these despicable actions. At what point do we the public stand up and decide this is not okay? From shows such as "Teen Pregnancy" which is suppose to show other teens  the hardship of having a baby early to the numerous reality shows that VH1 has shown of women cursing, fighting, and acting unlady like- where do we stop and say enough is enough?

Understand 1stClassLadies know very well that T.V. without a little bit of drama doesn't make for good rating- we get that 100%. What we don't know is why EVERYTIME we watch a show that is  ALL we get to see. Reality television started out as something the public watched not only as a source of entertainment but as something we could relate to. To be able to watch a show and every now and again go " damn that's me! lol" Besides the nice cloths, must have shoes, and killer accessories, - what else does it have? What else does it show? That as long as you're cute and have a little bit of money it's okay to act a fool? That it's not about what you know but who you know, who you been with, and what others can do for you? As long as you can score a deal with a popular channel and make a fool of yourself your set? Is this the message we are sending with an approved seal. We're afraid to some extent yes.
Now we are not trying to take away from those who are really trying to better themselves and are using their fame from these shows to do so such as starting whatever line of their choice it is, expanding an already existing project or career move. We applaud you in these efforts and hope you continue to succeed. It's just unfortunate that it took the negative attention to gain those accomplishments. People like Tami Roman has publicly made an apology to her cast, fans, and family for her actions with her role on the hit show "Basketball Wives" and it is said that a few cast members from " Love & Hip Hop" are not set to return because of the image they have received from their show. The fact is they can only blame themselves for what they have done and how people see them. We believe as long as they vow to change in the future and really stick by it becoming a better genuine person then and only then will people respect them as more then just a character on a show with no class.

As mother's we can understand the struggles of handling building a empire as well as taking care of your household; but at the cost of your dignity as well as respect?? What message are you sending to the  young girls facing conflicts with their peers everyday? Besides coining phrases like "Non Mutha F'n Factor", or showing the young ladies of our generation that if you date an athlete you too can have a extensive red bottom shoe collection.. with getaways and luxury vehicles. What exactly is being contributed? The impact these shows have made on adults is even disturbing; giving the misguided a delusional view of how to achieve some type of fame.

As young mothers we 1stClassLadies can truly stand behind the saying " Putting childish things to rest" There are many things we've had to adjust in our own personal lives to be a leading example to our influential daughters and son. Life itself is not "The Bad Girls Club" so why are there so many females trying to fit that mold? We've heard countless times on the "BasketBall Wives" there is a difference between being a groupie and being a potential wife, yet somehow they show us they were just promoted in status with their actions. Who can be seen as the next Maya Angelou..Oprah Winfery.. Betty Shabazz..Coretta Scott King even?? How can women of ethnicity allow themselves as well as our future generations be viewed in such a negative light.

Why is teen pregnancy all of a sudden glorified? I myself, was a teen mother. And it definitely was no picnic!! A lot of my dreams got  derailed, and i had nine months to figure out how to be a mother when I was still just a child myself. Where is the reality of the situation?? The struggle, the hardship with family, the fact that these girls are being paid, speaks volumes as to how we are encouraging the many wrong decisions they make. As long as it's for our entertainment!!!

Courtney Top (Teal) 36.00

What do  Louis Vouitton, Vera Wang, and the hottest designers have in common this summer??? No clue well we'll help you figure it out. PASTELS... so shed those hues of winter, and let your inner fashionista bloom. As the signs of a  summer is among us; it's time to embrace the pastel trend!!!  With the drab weather we've endured, we 1stClassLadies think its just what the doctor ordered. Taking inspiration of everything you love about summer and incorporating it into you daily threads. Think light as cotton candy, so you can leave spectators in a sugar rush . But to wow the masses; you have to do the look right.. How, you ask? Well with clean cut colors of course. We know you may want to play safe, balancing the hues with a neutral blouse. However the key is to build to the look, not to buffer it out. The only time neutral shades come into play here; is with accessories or via a kick ass shoe.  Need a sample.. Well the creative genius of KarensClosetNY has mastered the art of Pastels. Combining pieces that leave the kiddies in awe... Just look at their Courtney teal top paired with the lavender Emoni hour glass skirt. Or their Lola color blocked dress.

Thoughts For Thursday

Will sex education reduce or end AIDS, adolescent pregnancy, prostitution, sexual exploitation? Frankly, we do not know. But silence on sexual matters does not appear to be an option either ideologically or practically. Ideologically, ignorance is no advantage when others have knowledge, especially knowledge misused, and people who know nothing of sex can take risks unknowingly and be taken advantage of -MARTHA CORNOG
Condoms On Prom Night?

She has the perfect dress. He has the baddest suit. Hair done, nails done, everything did! And for him- he's  just as fresh as they come. Both ready for one of the most memorable and happiest nights of their lives- Prom Night!! As you snap the final photos of your little love ones as they drive off in their limo, the last thing going through a parents mind is that they could be giving condoms by the school at the end of the night. Well that's just what some parents would've been pondering as the Bedford-Stuyvesant Preparatory High School plans to make condoms available to students to take as they leave the prom.
Now before you get all riled up understand there are three views in every story. the two parties that's are involved and then there is the reality. Lets discuss all sides today!

The School. There is sex education classes conducted in schools as well condoms available just down the hall at the nurses station so whats the difference with them be available to students at prom? They are not walking up to students and handing them  a condom with a note attached stating "having a good time." they are simple making it available  to those who are considering going down that rode. Better safe then sorry type of situation. Though teen pregnancy has continued to drop in the US the numbers are far from low enough. Some students feel more comfortable speaking with someone other then a parent about sex situation so if the school is that other person we would want them to make sure if they are going to engage in those acts they are protected.

The Parent. Now we know what your thinking- I am the parent so I should have the final say so about sex and condoms. And you as a parent to a certain extent are correct. Being open to discuss sex with your child is the first big step. Speaking to the school and hearing their view on the situation whether you agree or not will help you to understand their intentions and then you can go from with whatever your next move is. Our children are our number concern and we only want whats best for them. We don't want someone encouraging them to be a grown up and make grown up discussion that they shouldn't have to just yet make.

The Reality. The truth of the matter is children are having sex sooner rather then later now a days. Some as young as junior high school has taking part in some sort of sexual activity. Though its not what we want to hear or believe it IS the reality so instead of trying to pretend as if it doesn't exist acknowledge it before your in for a bigger surprise! Take proper steps when it comes to your child like talking to them about sex and making it very clear your door is always open to speak about it. Make it clear that they should feel comfortable coming to you about ANYTHING.

Though in recent days the principal of the high school has pulled the plan to hand out condoms, 1stClassLadies believe he only had the best interest of the student at heart as do parents. We believe that if both parties work together and put their passion and love for the students together and make it one everyone will come out on top!

Wanted Wenesday

Who is rich? He that is content. Who is that? Nobody.-Benjamin Franklin

Save Some This Summer
With all this beautiful weather upon us, we have started planning our 2012 summer of fun. Now that you have your swim gear, party cloths and all the nick knacks one will need there is still one thing you have to handle- the bills! The reality is bills never stop rolling in and can effect your summer plans IF you don't take care of them. 1stClassLadies LOVE our summer and refuse to let bills stop us from enjoying it. We know our viewers feel the same way so we have put together a few tips to help you save money on your bills and things this summer. Put those extra dollars toward something more useful- like summer!
Less Is More. Most of the time we are not home during the day. Probably at work or taking in the sun somewhere on a beach. Whatever the case may be, you want to make sure when your not home your not paying for it. Before leaving home not only should you cut off everything but unplug it as well. The less energy you use the more money you save on the electric bill.
Budget a Bit. Since you would rather spend your money on enjoying the summer your going to have to cut back a bit on other things. Cut back on spending money when you don't have to. For example, take lunch to work instead buying something outside. Then there is riding a bike or evening skating to a destination instead of spending money on gas. You can keep in shape and save all at the same time- that's a deal!
Look Pretty Not Pricey. Ever see someone in an outfit or a pair of shoes and think " Man I know they spent and arm and a leg on that!" Then your blown away when your informed just how much they actually spent was half of what you were thinking. You can have that look and price too. There is nothing wrong with shopping only during great deals. The outfit doesn't make you YOU make the outfit! Compare prices before buying something. You can actually apply this method to anything you need for your home as well (i.e. groceries.)
Take On The Jobs. There is no reason why you should hire someone to do your household make overs if you can do them yourself. Let's say you want to spice up the living room with a Tiffany blue sort of color. Gather a few of your reliable friends and have a paint party. You will feel because the work is your own- the money you will save is also the best part!
Make Coupons Your Best friend. Scissors meet coupons! There is nothing wrong with clipping and saving. And in this new computer crazed century sometimes you don't have to even clip them. With just the click of a button you can get the things you want and need at a discount price.
