Thoughts For Thursday

The basis of all animal rights should be the Golden Rule:  we should treat them as we would wish them to treat us, were any other species in our dominant position.  ~Christine Stevens

Animal Abuse

Every time we hear of a child being hurt, our hearts melt. We go into this defense mode and feel the need to protect them. now how about using your superman cape for animals? There are millions of stray animals in the US not to mention the ones being abused and tortured in shelters or by their owners. Starved, beating, and left with no medical attention. This has been an on going  issue for many years and its time to stop pretending like we don't know its happening.

Still in denial?? Here is some facts to wake you up:
  • Cows are milked extensively in order to fulfill the need of the human population. Due to this their calves can’t get enough milk for their proper nutrition and growth.
  • Dog fighting/cock fighting are illegal in the United States. Dogs who lose or can’t fight are usually abandoned, tortured, set on fire, or beaten to death.
  • Elephants who entertainment in the circus are tied with chains for more than 14hrs a day.
  • The frustration of life in a cage leads minks to self-mutilate- biting their skin, tails, feet- or frantically pace and circle endlessly.
  • Just about 3 to 4 million cats and dogs- many of them healthy, young, and adoptable- must be euthanized in animal shelters every year.
If your not blown away by now 1stclassLadies doesn't know what to tell you! One would wonder why people would do such a thing? People who hurt animals on purpose because they enjoy hurting things, or it makes them feel powerful. Many of these people would hurt others if they could get away with it. They just choose to hurt animals because they are more helpless than people.
Know that this is ILLEGAL!!! There are laws set into play so that animals are safe.
State Animal Cruelty Laws
Anti-cruelty laws exist in all U.S. states and territories to prohibit unnecessary killing, mutilating, torturing, beating, neglecting and abandoning animals, or depriving them of proper food, water or shelter.

Here are some sites you can visit to get more knowledge and find out how to help end animal cruelty:
